The Northeast Florida Builders Association (NFBA) has launched
a campaign to showcase the strength of Jacksonville’s housing market
in response to what members see as negative press. The trade group
provides information to buyers via television and print advertisements
and JaxHomeFacts.com. At an NFBA seminar earlier this week,
speakers blamed a drop in home sales on sellers who refuse to lower
their asking prices. They also attributed a jump in inventory to investors
either backing out of contracts or listing their units for sale at a discount.
Meanwhile, Clockwork Marketing President Maxine McBride says that
NFBA members need to look within and make sure their sales
representatives tell potential buyers that it’s a great time to invest. She
says that her firm sent secret shoppers to new developments and asked
sales associates if a home purchase is wise at the present time. Instead
of saying “yes” and explaining why it’s a good time, however, the
representatives talked about the builder’s current incentives.
